ABSTRACT

This qualitative research study delved into parental perceptions regarding the implementation of Special Education (SPED) transition livelihood packages at the City of Balanga National High School in the Philippines. The aim is to understand the impact of the program, identify areas for improvement, and provide valuable insights for enhancing the SPED Transition Curriculum. Using a qualitative research design, data were gathered through interviews and focus group discussions with parents of students enrolled in various livelihood packages offered by the program. Findings revealed diverse insights into parental perspectives on the SPED transition program, emphasizing its role in equipping students with essential life skills and preparing them for adulthood. The study also shed light on the challenges faced by parents in implementing the livelihood packages, including skill development, resource management, and dependency on parental guidance. Recommendations for improvement included diversifying livelihood programs, increasing attendance hours, implementing flexible approaches, and emphasizing self-determination principles to better cater to individual student needs and enhance program effectiveness. These recommendations aim to foster holistic development and prepare students with diverse abilities for a self-reliant and productive future.
