ABSTRACT

The primary objective of the study is to gain insights into the increasing rate of resignation among teaching personnel in the SDO Balanga City. It employed a mixed methods approach, combining descriptive and quantitative data, to examine the factors influencing their decision to leave and develop strategies to retain skilled teachers. The analysis identified several key factors contributing to teacher resignations, such as heavy workloads, stress, limited professional growth opportunities, gender-related biases, burnout, feelings of undervaluation, and decreased motivation. Leadership and management practices, organizational culture, compensation and benefits, support and resources, collegial relationships, policy and reforms, public perception, and market demand also played significant roles in teacher attrition. However, the study had limitations due to its narrow focus, and to improve generalizability, larger and more diverse samples should have been considered. Despite its limitations, the research offered valuable insights that could inform interventions to address resignation rates among teachers. By implementing strategies such as workload management, professional development opportunities, and a supportive work environment, educational institutions and policymakers could enhance teacher retention and overall education quality. Addressing the root causes of teacher resignations was crucial for establishing a stable and dedicated teaching workforce, benefiting students’ comprehensive development, and strengthening the long-term stability and effectiveness of the Philippine education system. Recommended strategies included tailored approaches to workload management, professional development, organizational culture, and external factors, as well as efforts to improve public perception and societal support for teachers, along with policy reforms to foster a positive and nurturing environment for educators.
